During “Easter” 2007 I began to realize the huge significance of the related various feasts of the Bible; Passover, Unleavened Bread, First Fruits and then Pentecost (Shavuot). That got me “hooked” on really trying to further understand the “Jewish Roots” of my faith in Jesus; the Messiah, the King of the Jews.

The knowledge that Jesus is Jewish and the fact that the whole Bible (Genesis through Revelations) is written by G-d through numerous Jewish minds that lived and were formed in Jewish Communities with customary ways of processing information seams significant to me. Following along those lines, I invite you to begin a journey into understanding a bit more about the historical roots of our faith and the Hebrew perspective from which is it’s “Genesis”. To “wet your appetite” I have provided excerpts from two books and an mp3 teaching containing a great insight into the Rabbinic Perspective from which the Bible is written. The first article I quote is from a book called “Restoration” by D. Thomas Lancaster primarily covering the first 500 years of “Church” history. Article quote number two comes from the Jewish New Testament Commentary by David H. Stern on Romans 11 and I have titled it “Olive Tree Theology”. My third offering to you is on an mp3 of a teaching my friend Bob Gorelik gave at his fellowship. I have entitled it; “Rabbinic Perspectives”, as it offers a very revealing look at how the Jewish people who wrote the entire Bible communicated.

In addition to the learning resources mentioned above, a great insight into the primary issue Jews have with “Christianity” can be partially understood through listening to a series of messages on the “Shema” (Hear oh Israel, the Lord our God Is One...) Bob has made available on his web site under “Topical Studies”. The non-Messianic part of the Jewish community, has trouble with Yeshua’s claim to be God along with “God the father” and “God the spirit” as that would contradict the statement of the Shema (Deuteronomy 6:4-9) that there is only “ONE” God. Understanding the Hebrew words; echad (a “compound” unity) vs yachid (an “absolute” unity) help to clarify that issue in Bob’s teaching."

If you would like to explore the JEWISH Roots of YOUR FAITH IN YESHUA further, I suggest these two sites: eshavbooks.org and First Fruits of Zion (FFOZ).
